Infrared Sauna and its health benefits

Some call it the ‘Light of Life’, others ‘Vital Rays’, NASA calls it ‘Bioenergetic Rays’; but, whatever nickname it is given far infrared has proven to be as important to human life as is oxygen, food, and water.
Far infrared is one range of the electromagnetic spectrum of waves emitted by the sun. Humans can not see this light, but know of its existence from the warmth they feel. To further explain how it is felt imagine yourself on a picnic during a hot summer day. It has become picnic protocol to set up the food under the shade of a tree. The air temperature does not change from the sun to the shade. So, why set up in the shade when the air temperature is the same in both locations? Because, the far infrared rays from the sun does raise the skin’s temperature when in direct contact.
How The Body Takes In Far Infrared
People not only absorb far infrared, but also emit it. The ancient art of ‘laying on of hands’ is actually the skill of releasing far infrared energy from the healer to the patient. The level of far infrared produced by each individual mirrors their general health. As they become ill their radiation of far infrared goes down, and vice versa as health is restored.
The far infrared spectrum is between 5.6 to 1000 microns. The wavelengths most helpful to the human being is between 8 and 14 microns.

An important element as to why the 8 to 14 range of far infrared is helpful has to do with the mechanics attributed to ‘Resonance Absorption’. The earth, water and human body all have a similar electromagnetic frequency at about 10 microns. This affinity allows for an easy assimilation of energy between like masses. So, much like how one tunes a radio station the few frequencies before and after the actual designated frequency will start to resonate the station’s signal, which causes some sound from the station, usually scratchy, to come through. In this same fashion it is with far infrared. The body will absorb microns close to the 10 microns area, but will only be in 100 percent harmony at the range it most often emits far infrared.
The human body will absorb only the amount of far infrared rays it can put to use at the time, so there is no danger of getting too much of a good thing.
How Far Infrared Effects The Body
Far infrared causes the water within the body to vibrate. The body is about 70% water, so this vibration has a profound effect on the tissues. This vibratory process allows for a deeper penetration of energy, which both heats the atoms and causes water molecules to break into smaller clusters. Both events stimulate the easy release of toxins. The extra heat generated causes the capillaries to expand which helps blood circulation, and increase the bodies metabolism. This activates the tissues to produce needed enzymes.
A Visual Demonstration Of How Far Infrared Vibrates
The animated graphic below is a demonstration using time-lapse photography of how far infrared vibrates water. What you are looking at in this demonstration is a clock, ceramic far infrared plate (black), normal plate (red) and an ice cube on each plate. Each photographic frame is taken about 15 seconds apart. There is no electricity, or external heat being applied to either plate. The minor motion between frames is due to the camera motion created when pressing the shutter. Both cubes of ice were placed on the their respective plates at roughly 12:00. The ice cube on the FIR plate immediately begins to swing from the center to the right and back. This motion continues until the ice has been melted. The total elapsed time it takes for the ice to breakdown is 5 minutes. At the moment the far infrared plate has turned the ice to water the ice on the red (normal) plate has only just begun to melt.

Now that you have seen the results of far infrared on ice it is easy to imagine how such an effect on the body’s cells could flush the toxins, and rev up the system. And, that is just a few of the influences far infrared has on the human body
At the University of Fukui in Japan there is a six story building devoted to the development of far infrared technologies. NASA was researching the health effects of far infrared long before this university decided to concentrate on the subject. But, today most of the major progress in far infrared is coming out of the orient.

Health Benefits Other Saunas Don’t Have
Unlike other saunas, the far infrared saunas’ heat penetrates at least 1 1/2 inches below the skin’s surface. This creates a deeper cleansing of the tissues. Far infrared heats the body directly. It does not use the air surrounding the person as a go between. The direct contact far infrared creates with the individual will result in a more intense sweat, while actually generating a lower temperature. This in turn allows more toxins to be eliminated than with other higher heated saunas.
How Far Infrared Saunas Detoxify
There is a plethora of chemicals the body can not metabolize so when ingested these toxins tend to be stored in fat cells. A Chronic Toxic Overload is created when hundreds of chemicals dwell in the body. This condition causes dozens of debilitating illnesses. Excessive toxins cause the mechanism which creates enzymes to malfunction, resulting in nutritional shortages, which in turn can lead to hormone and brain imbalances.
That is the bad news. The good news is that with far infrared’s deep heat, fat cells liquify. Couple this with the vibrational effect far infrared has on water clusters, and your water molecules begin to split into micro-molecules, making the toxins within them easier to eliminate. These duo processes work together to allow toxins and fat to be released to the eliminative systems of the body.
Far Infrared’s Benefits On The Blood
A 30 minute far infrared sauna is as advantageous to the cardiovascular system as is a 6 mile run. In fact, NASA has used far infrared for cardiac conditioning. With far infrared heat the blood vessels become dilated which helps lower blood pressure, increases blood circulation, boosts cellular metabolism, smoothes the walls of the blood carrying system and increases the production of both white blood cells and endorphins. The blood and its systems gain vigor which results in a strengthened immune system, quicker injury healing, normalized cholesterol, recovered energy and improved oxygen levels.
Other Benefits
Where to begin? Well, it is kind of a no-brainer to deduct that if far infrared liquifies fat and expedites its elimination weight loss would be a benefit. And, it is. At least 300 calories are burned for every 30 minute sauna taken. Far infrared stimulates the hypothalamus which controls neurochemicals. The benefits of this include a better sleep, improved moods, pain control, a lower body acidic level through the reduction of stress and toxins.
The heat from far infrared prevents the growth of bacteria and molds. Along with this effect, caused by the heat, the body will also activate its immune system anytime its core temperature rises above the norm. This stimulation of the immune system helps the body to more quickly rid itself of other illnesses.
Conditions Far Infrared Is Known To Help
• Fibromyalgia• Headaches• Digestive Problems• Chronic Fatigue• Eczema and Psoriasis• Weight• Arthritis• Acne• Soft-tissue Injury• Menstrual Pain• Hypertension• Asthma• Colds and Flu• Depression• Tremors• Joint Pain• Allergies• Insomnia• Candidiasis• Burns
How To Properly Take A Far Infrared Sauna
• Drink at least a quart of water for each 30 minute sauna,
• Do not overstay your comfort zone’s welcome, get out if nausea, headache, dizziness, or any other discomfort should come upon you,
• Replace minerals and vitamins released through sweating.

People Should Check With There Doctor Before Using Saunas If…
• They have Lupus
• They have Multiple Sclerosis
• They have a joint injury less than 48 hours old
• They are, or think they may be pregnant
• They suffer from Hemophilia
• They have a metal pin, an artificial joint, or other kind of implant.

The room sized saunas vary in dimensions to accommodate between 1 to 5 people.
